Pondicherry is known for its serenity, tranquility and excellent quality of life. The Pondicherry Pollution Control Committee (PPCC in short) being the Environmental Protection Agency of the Union Territory of Pondicherry endeavours to maintain these characters of Pondicherry’s Environment. PPCC is committed to the efficient use of natural resources and to the sustainable development of Pondicherry.

PPCC which functions as the environmental protection agency for Pondicherry came into being in 1992. It regulates the polluting activities of various organisations which have an adverse effect on the environment. The PPCC also regularly monitors the status of environment in various parts of the Union Territory. Besides this, PPCC endeavours to increase environmental awareness among public, youth, school and college going students.
