| Geography is information about the earth's surface and the objects found on it, as well as a framework for organizing knowledge. GIS is a technology that manages, analyzes, and disseminates geographic knowledge. GIS is used to view and analyze data from a geographic perspective. GIS links location to information (such as people to addresses, or streets within a network) and layers that information to give you a better understanding of how it all interrelates. (more) | Gis can be developed as a standalone system as well as it can be hosted on the web. In order to make it interactive we go for Web Gis. GIS Map Server used to generate map images dynamically upon request. It is targeted towards applications which display either static or dynamic information on top of a map, providing functionality for zooming and panning the map at run time. As the user zooms or pans to a different region, the map server generates a new map image to be displayed. The map images serve as a background which provides contextual information. | |
